Student-Run Food Bank Marks Its Fifth Year Serving Campus

The student-run food bank marked its fifth anniversary this month, having grown from a single shelf in the union building to a weekly service supporting hundreds of students.

What began as an informal response to a handful of students struggling between loan payments is now run by a rotating team of volunteers, with donations coming from staff, local businesses, and a standing arrangement with the university's catering service.

"We don't ask why anyone is here," said one of the current volunteer coordinators. "You just come in, you take what you need, and that's the whole system."

The team is currently recruiting volunteers for the coming term and welcomes both regular and one-off donations.
