Business leaders and researchers discuss what the transition to sustainable operations actually costs, and what it returns.

A full day of talks, with the people doing the work in the room to be argued with afterwards.

The sessions are grounded in cases rather than theory: what was decided, what it cost, and what the people who decided it would do differently.

The morning opens with a short introduction to the programme, so that anyone arriving without context is not left behind. From there the day splits: sessions run in parallel, and you are free to move between them.

Faculty from across the department take part, alongside researchers and, where the subject calls for it, partners from outside the university. They are here to be asked difficult questions, and the good ones tend to come from the floor rather than the panel.

"The people who get the most out of a day like this are the ones who come with a question they actually care about," says one of the organisers. "The programme is a scaffold. The conversations are the thing."

Lunch and refreshments are provided, and the breaks are deliberately long: most of what people remember from these events happens between the sessions rather than during them.

The venue is The Schermerhorn Building, Room 214, North Campus. It is step-free throughout, a hearing loop is available, and if you have an access requirement we would rather hear about it in advance than improvise on the day.
